AI Integration of Health Programs Discussed at BARÜ
A meeting was held to evaluate the integration of the departments and programs within Bartın Health Services Vocational School at Bartın University (BARÜ) with artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.
The meeting was held on August 25, 2026, in the Rectorate Meeting Room under the chairmanship of Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Zafer Ceylan. The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Özge Özgür, Director of Bartın Health Services Vocational School, the school administration, and faculty members from the departments and programs.
During the meeting, discussions focused on strengthening the alignment of the School’s existing programs with the professional competencies of the future in line with the digital transformation in healthcare services and the rapidly expanding applications of AI technologies. In this context, views were exchanged on incorporating competencies related to artificial intelligence, digital health, data literacy, and emerging technologies into course contents.
The participants also discussed the development of existing programs by integrating them with AI, reassessing program curricula in line with current industry needs, and developing proposals for new programs addressing emerging professional profiles in the healthcare sector. Particular attention was drawn to the importance of expanding educational opportunities that support digital transformation in healthcare services, especially the Telehealth Technician Program currently offered at BARÜ.
The proposals prepared by faculty members on a program-by-program basis were evaluated, while views were shared on integrating AI into various areas, including the delivery of healthcare services, patient monitoring, healthcare data management, care services, promotion, and communication processes.
Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Zafer Ceylan emphasized the importance of artificial intelligence and digital transformation in higher education, highlighting the need to update academic programs in line with changing professional requirements and to prepare students for the workforce of the future.
Director of the School Prof. Dr. Özge Özgür emphasized the importance of reflecting technological transformation in the healthcare sector in professional education. She stated that efforts would continue to strengthen existing programs with AI-supported competencies and to develop new programs with high employment potential.
The meeting concluded with an evaluation of the proposals submitted by the departments and programs and discussions on the roadmap for the work to be carried out in the coming period.
