Foreign Language Exemption Exam Announcement
The Foreign Language Exemption Exams for the 2026–2027 Academic Year for the courses YDI-101 (Foreign Language English I) and YDI-102 (Foreign Language English II) will be held face-to-face on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. for students admitted to our University, excluding students enrolled in the English Language Teaching and English Translation and Interpreting Programs.
Students who will take the courses for the first time and students who have previously taken the courses but failed may take the exemption exams. Students who are retaking the courses in order to improve their grades are not eligible to take the exemption exams. Even if such students take the exams, their exam results will be considered INVALID.
- The exemption exam for YDI-101 (Foreign Language English I) and YDI-102 (Foreign Language English II) consists of two sections, each containing 20 multiple-choice questions, for a total of 40 questions. Questions 1–20 are related to YDI-101 (Foreign Language English I), which is offered in the Fall Semester, while questions 21–40 are related to YDI-102 (Foreign Language English II), which is offered in the Spring Semester. The exam duration is 50 minutes. Each section will be evaluated separately and independently.
- Each student will take the exam in the building of their respective academic unit. Please follow your academic unit's website for information about the classrooms where the exams will be held.
- Participation in the exemption exams is optional. Students are not required to take the exams. Students who wish to be exempt from these courses may participate in the exams. Students who wish to take the exams must apply to their respective academic units.
- Following the completion of the exams and the subsequent evaluation process, the list of students who are deemed exempt will be submitted to the relevant academic units.

The application deadline is September 17, 2026, by the end of working hours. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.
